This classic meat pie is a staple during the holiday season in Quebec. It’s savory and comforting, perfect for festive gatherings.
Ingredients
☐1 pie crust
☐1 lb ground pork (450 g)
☐1/2 lb ground beef (225 g)
☐1 onion, chopped
☐2 cloves garlic, minced
☐1 tsp dried thyme
☐1 tsp ground cinnamon
☐Salt and pepper, to taste
☐1 egg, beaten, for egg wash
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
Add the ground meats, thyme, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Cook until browned.
Transfer the filling to a pie crust and cover with another crust.
Make slits for steam and brush with beaten egg.
Bake for 45 minutes until golden brown.
Let cool before slicing.
