This traditional meat pie is a quintessential part of Quebec's holiday celebrations. Serve it with pickles for a delightful feast!
Ingredients
☐1 lb (450 g) ground pork
☐1/2 lb (225 g) ground beef
☐1/2 lb (225 g) ground veal
☐1 onion, finely chopped
☐2 cloves garlic, minced
☐1 teaspoon dried thyme
☐1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
☐Salt and pepper to taste
☐2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
☐1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a skillet, cook the meats with onion and garlic until browned.
Season with thyme, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a pie dish.
Fill with the meat mixture, cover with the second pie crust, and seal edges.
Brush the top with beaten egg.
Make small slits for steam to escape.
Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
