A traditional Quebec meat pie, perfect for holiday gatherings. This savory dish is packed with flavor and embodies the spirit of festive celebrations.
Ingredients
☐1 pie crust (9 inches | 23 cm)
☐1 lb (450 g) ground pork
☐1 lb (450 g) ground beef
☐1 onion, chopped
☐1 tsp (5 g) salt
☐1 tsp (5 g) pepper
☐1/2 tsp (2 g) cinnamon
☐1/4 tsp (1 g) cloves
☐1/4 tsp (1 g) allspice
☐1/2 cup (120 ml) beef broth
☐1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a large skillet, sauté the onion until translucent.
Add the pork and beef, cooking until browned.
Season with salt, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, and allspice.
Pour in the beef broth and simmer for 10 minutes.
Place the mixture in the pie crust, cover with another crust, and cut slits.
Brush with beaten egg and bake for 30-35 minutes.
Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
