This creamy potato gratin is a classic Quebec side dish, layered with cheese and a hint of nutmeg. Ideal for any meal.
Ingredients
☐4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
☐2 cups (240 g) grated cheese
☐1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
☐1 tsp nutmeg
☐Salt and pepper to taste
☐2 tbsp (30 g) butter
☐1 onion, sliced
☐1 cup (240 ml) milk
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a greased baking dish, layer potatoes, onion, and cheese.
In a bowl, mix cream, milk, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
Pour the mixture over the layered potatoes.
Dot with butter and cover with foil.
Bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden.
