A hearty meat pie traditionally served during the holidays in Quebec, filled with seasoned ground pork and spices.
Ingredients
☐1 lb (450 g) ground pork
☐1 lb (450 g) ground beef
☐1 onion, chopped
☐2 cloves garlic, minced
☐1 tsp (5 g) ground cinnamon
☐1 tsp (5 g) ground allspice
☐1/2 tsp (2 g) salt
☐1/2 tsp (2 g) black pepper
☐2 pie crusts
☐1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
☐1/2 cup (120 ml) beef broth
☐1 tbsp (15 ml) Worcestershire sauce
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a skillet, cook the ground pork and beef with onion and garlic until browned.
Add cinnamon, allspice, salt, and pepper; mix well.
Stir in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
Place the filling in one pie crust and cover with the second crust; seal edges.
Brush the top with beaten egg and make small slits for steam.
Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Let it cool slightly before serving.
