This traditional Quebec bread is soft and slightly sweet, perfect for sandwiches or toasted with butter. A staple in every household.
Ingredients
☐4 cups all-purpose flour (500 g)
☐2 tablespoons sugar (30 g)
☐1 tablespoon salt (15 g)
☐1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
☐1 1/2 cups warm water (360 ml)
☐2 tablespoons olive oil (30 ml)
Directions
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
In a separate bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Add yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients.
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth.
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Shape into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan.
Let rise again for 30 minutes, then bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes.
