This traditional boule bread has a crispy crust and a soft interior, making it a staple in Quebec kitchens for any meal.
Ingredients
☐4 cups all-purpose flour (480 g)
☐1 1/2 cups warm water (360 ml)
☐2 tsp salt (10 g)
☐2 tbsp sugar (30 g)
☐1 packet active dry yeast (7 g)
☐1 tbsp olive oil (15 ml)
Directions
In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
Stir in flour and salt; add olive oil and mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1.5 hours.
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
Shape the dough into a round boule and place it on a baking sheet.
Let rise for another 30 minutes, then make a few slashes on top before baking for 30-35 minutes until golden.
